Atmospheric Corrosion Sensor

Corrosion.
In microns.

The sensor reads a corrosion probe by electrical resistance (ER). The probe has a thin metal strip exposed to the air. As the strip corrodes, it gets thinner and its electrical resistance goes up. The sensor measures this and sends the data over LTE-M.

How it works

Thinner metal, higher resistance.

01

Exposed strip

On the probe, a thin metal strip sits in the open air and corrodes like the structure around it.

02

Reference strip, covered in epoxy

A second strip on the probe is covered in epoxy, so it does not corrode. Comparing the two removes the effect of temperature.

03

Metal loss and corrosion rate

The sensor reports how much metal has corroded away, and how fast.

Precise measurement, small case.

The change in resistance is very small, so we use the same high-precision amplifier as our strain gauge sensors.

Small case

The same small, sealed case as the Asense Edge Node.

High-precision amplifier

Measures very small changes in the probe's resistance.

Data over LTE-M

Data goes straight to your dashboard and API. No gateway or data logger needed.
